On 22nd April 2016, Tata Consultancy Services(TCS), Ambattur branch, Chennai, invited MOHAN Foundation to give a talk on Organ Donation as a part of their CSR activity of their HOPE project. The program started with a devotional song and welcome address given by the employees of TCS.
Dr. Hemal Kanvinde discussed the Indian scenario of Organ Donation. She stressed on the importance of donating organs and the concept of brain death. She also cleared the myths and misconceptions regarding Organ Donation. It was over whelming to know that most of the employees have already participated in blood donation camps. A total of 95 employees attended the talk and almost ninety percent of them pledged to donate their organs.
A few queries about whether the body is returned after the donation and why the family should decide even if the brain dead person is a pledged donor were answered.
We thank Mr. Karthikeyan and the volunteers of HOPE for organizing a lively session.
