Eye Donation Awareness Talk on World Eye Sight Day

  • On 11th October, on the occasion of World Eye Sight Day, an online talk was organised by MFJCF Jaipur to stress the importance of eye health and eye donation. This talk, powered by NBC was attended by more than 50 participants.

    The key speakers were Dr. G N Rao, Chairman LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad and Dr. Swati Tomar, M.D, Eye Bank Society of Rajasthan.

    Dr. Rao who spoke on the topic ‘Eye Health in Post-Pandemic Era’ highlighted the following:

    • Top 10 countries with the highest number of persons with the visual impairments
    • National Blindness & Visual Impairment Survey India (2015-2019) found that people suffering from blindness has reduced from 12 million in 2006-07 to 4.8 million in 2019
    • He also suggested a 3T Model for achieving success- (Talent + Technology + Tenderness)

    Dr. Swati Tomar discussed her journey and association with LV Prasad Eye Institute and Eye Bank Society of Rajasthan

    A few eye transplant recipients also spoke about their eye health after the transplant. They expressed their gratitude to the Eye Bank Society of Rajasthan for their efforts in helping them undergo corneal transplants.
