The MOHAN Foundation recently conducted a successful awareness session on organ and tissue donation on December 23, 2025, for the employees of Toshniwal HYVAC Pvt. Ltd. in Kilpauk, Chennai. The program commenced with the felicitation of Mr. Prabakaran, whose instrumental support ensured the smooth organization of the event. A group of 25 participants attended the session, which began with an introductory address by Miss Riya Singh, followed by a poignant short film that highlighted the life-saving impact of donation, setting a reflective tone for the afternoon.
The technical portion of the session was divided into specialized segments to provide a holistic view of the cause. Miss Kanishka provided vital insights into the nuances of corneal donation, which were further expanded upon by Mr. Suresh, a grief counselor from Sankara Nethralaya. Mr. Suresh presented compelling statistics and pediatric case studies, explaining the procedural depth of eye donation. Following this, Miss Riya Singh led an in-depth discussion on organ donation, covering the legal framework (THOTA Act), ethical considerations, and a step-by-step guide on how to pledge. A dedicated segment was also used to debunk common myths fuelled by cinema, replacing misinformation with medical facts.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A where participants displayed high engagement. Key queries addressed included specific medical and procedural concerns such as "Can I pledge my heart when I have stents?", "Will matching matter during tissue donation?", "What is the exact time period for corneal retrieval?", and "Why should the head be raised up after death?" Detailed answers were provided to clarify these points and encourage confidence in the donation process.
