Dream Runners- Organ Recipient Special Run/Walk.

  • A cloudy sky and a slight drizzle did not hamper the enthusiasm of more than 2500 runners in the Dream Runners Half Marathon 2013 for the cause of organ donation on 7th July 2013. Dream Runners and MOHAN Foundation organised a special 2.5 km run/walk for organ recipients as part of the half marathon. Eleven organ tranplant recipients came forward to walk for 2.5 km to show their gratitude to their donors. 

     

    The recipient walk started from Olcott School, Besant Nagar at 7.00 am and ended at 8.00am.  Before the start, Dr. Amalorpavanathan, Convenor, Cadaver Transplant  Program, Mr.  P.W.C. DavidarPrincipal Secretary, Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department and Dr Sunil Shroff , Managing Trustee, MOHAN Foundation spoke about the value of organ donation and thanked Rekha, Victor and Swaminanathan of Dream Runners for selecting organ donation as their cause for the 2013 half marathon.  They also thanked all the 2500 runners for their support. The runners had pinned green ribbons  on their bibs to show their support for the cause.

     

    The transplant recipients walked along the 3rd avenue Besant Nagar.  All walkers were given participation certificates and medals.

     

    MOHAN Foundation put up an information stall at the venue. Many runners and their families came to the stall to pick up information brochures and donor cards.
