Dr. Jimmy Gupta as Speaker for Inspiration and Awareness Program on Organ Donation arranged by Bhanusamaj

  • On 13th February 2021, Bhanusamaj members from Mumbai, Vapi and Gujarat have organised a prayer meeting along awareness program which included expert talk from various speakers comprised of Transplant Surgeons, Transplant coordinators and speakers from NGO’s working for the cause of Organ Donation. The prayer meeting was dedicated in honour of Deceased organ donor Mr Ramesh Mithiya from Vapi whose vital organs were donated and life of five people was saved through the noble act of the family.

    Dr. Jimmy Gupta introduced MOHAN Foundation, its mission, vision and philanthropy. She then shared her past experiences sharing the agony of Organ Failure patients and their families waiting for new lease of life through transplant by receiving Gift of Life through a donated Organ. She also briefed about the statistics of deceased organ donation and explained the concern for low organ donation rate in India. She then thanked the donor family and shared the fact that Organ Donation helps family to come out of their grief soon.

    Dr. Jimmy explained the importance of Transplant Coordinator in Government Hospitals which helps boosting the Deceased Organ Donation Program of the State. She also requested the doctors of Vapi to help midsize hospitals to become NTORC (Non-Transplant Organ Retrieval Centres) centres thereby contributing in the pool of deceased organ donation and organize ICU workshops for intensive care doctors to help in Brain Dead Identification, Certification and retrieval of organs thereby saving lives. Lastly she explained the importance of awareness amongst general public about Organ Donation.

    The event was streamed Live on YouTube and has received more than 750 views. She thanked Mithiya Family and Mr. Jayanthi for inviting her and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
