Dhaanam Marathon was organized to promote and to create awareness on blood and organ donation on March 19, 2023 by the Lions Club, Tirupattur and Sacred Hearts College, Tirupattur. This 12 km run started at Sacred Hearts College and culminated at the District Collector office through Achamangalam. The District Collector Mr. Baskara Pandiyan D flagged off the marathon. The 720 participants age ranged 6 – 67. Considering the safety of the participants a help desk was organized by Tirupattur GH at the starting and conclusion point, and two ambulances from 108 escorted throughout the journey.
MOHAN Foundation organized an information desk at the collector office where the prize distribution ceremony was held. Mr. Ganesh C, Marketing Coordinator distributed green ribbons and information pamphlets to all the government administrative officials, prior to the start of the marathon and to the general audience post the marathon. A signature banner - campaign was also conducted and over 400 participants and government officials signed to support organ donation. The State Authority TRANSTAN officials organized a registration counter and 46 members pledged to become organ donors.
Post marathon a small group meeting was organized with the MSW Students/Volunteers, where Mr. Bala Sakthi, Transplant Coordinator, Salem GH, spoke shared the roles and responsibilities of Transplant Coordinator and Mr Ganesh shared about the course offered by MOHAN Foundation to become a Transplant Coordinator. The session ended with vote of thanks by Father Rector.
