  • An organ donation awareness activity was conducted at the annual chariot festival held at Lord Venkateswara Srinivasa Temple. The temple’s annual festival, celebrated during April, is a significant religious event that attracts a large gathering of devotees from Sholinghur and nearby areas. The festival is celebrated over a period of ten days, during which the idol of Lord Venkateswara is taken in procession around the town on different vahanas with elaborate decorations. One of the major highlights of the celebration is the grand chariot procession, where the deity is seated on a massive temple chariot and pulled through the streets by devotees as an act of faith and devotion.

On April 28, 2026, the grand chariot procession was held, drawing a crowd of over 2000 devotees who actively participated in the celebration by pulling the chariot and offering prayers. Recognizing this as an excellent opportunity to reach a large and diverse audience, an organ donation awareness initiative was carried out during the event.

As part of the awareness activity, Ms. Arshiya Fathima, Ms. Kanishka, and Mr. Ganesh actively participated throughout the procession by walking. During the event, more than 1000 organ donation information brochures were distributed to members of the public. The brochures provided essential information about organ donation, its importance, and the process involved.

Many devotees approached Ms. Arshiya and Ms. Kanishka to seek clarification and learn more about organ donation, resulting in several meaningful interactions and discussions. Around 127 donor cards were collected from the public. The awareness activity was successful in educating the public and creating greater understanding about the importance of organ donation.

Conducting the campaign during a large religious gathering proved to be an effective platform to reach the community and promote awareness about the life-saving cause of organ donation. The initiative contributed significantly towards encouraging public dialogue and fostering positive attitudes toward organ donation.
