Conducted Organ Donation Awareness Session at NCRD Sterling Institute of Pharmacy, Nerul, Navi Mumbai

    On 20 th October 2023, MOHAN Foundation was invited to deliver an awareness talk
    for D Pharm students of NCRD Sterling Institute of Pharmacy. Mrs. Pratiksha
    Wasankar from the institution organized the event and Ms Prarthana Dwivedi was
    the speaker, who spoke on the following topics:
     Organ donation and transplantation
     Brief explanation on brain death
     Identification and certification of brain death
     Eye Donation and skin donation
     Organ allocation and sharing
     Organ retrieval
     Pledging organs
     Role of a police in donation
     Body Donation
    The session ended with sharing of a motivational story, answering the queries raised
    by the students process to pledge organs and using the tollfree helpline number.
    Questions asked by the audience were as follows:
     How much time required for Skin donation process?
     Documents required for Eye donation?
     Can old age person donate body after death and how?
    Ms. Prarthana answered all the queries promptly. Close to 14 members pledged their
    organs. 88 students, including faculty and students of D Pharm departments
    attended the session. We thank Dr Sonali Sonulkar and Mrs. Pratiksha Wasankar
    coordinator of NCRD Sterling Institute of Pharmacy for inviting us and supporting the
    cause of Organ Donation.
