Commemoration of Organ Donation Day at Shri Krishnaswamy College for Women

  • In collaboration with the MOHAN Foundation, Shri Krishnaswamy College for Women (SKCW), Chennai, observed Organ Donation Day on August 9, 2025, to raise awareness of organ and tissue donation. 

     

    A face painting competition, a ramp walk competition, a poster design competition, and a signature banner with an organ and tissue donation theme were all part of the event. Students took an active part and shown their enthusiasm, support, and inventiveness for the admirable cause.

     

    Three judges assessed each competition, with professionals from a variety of fields requested to serve as judges. The use of color, theme representation, inventiveness, and presentation were the judging criteria. The judges who took time to be a part of the noble cause:

    Dr Baskar Srinivasan, Co-Founder of  CODE  - Cornea, Ocular Surface, and Dry Eye, a Hospital  in T Nagar was invited as the Chief Guest. Dr Srinivasan is a seasoned expert in Cornea, Ocular Surface & Refractive Services. 

    He covered the importance of eye care, frequent causes of eye infections, and prevention in his speech. He discussed the need for corneas and innovative approaches to help many people see better with just one eye donation. Students eagerly participated in the highly interactive session by raising several questions. 

     

    There were encouraging words for the students from each judge and special visitor. Ms. Sasikala advised the young girls to be mindful of the things that can impact them, seek advice from authorities, and acquire sufficient experience to approach life in a constructive way. Ms. Subbulakshmi promised to donate her organs after realizing the importance of a "yes" and displaying her donor card. 

     

    At the prize distribution Ln Paraneetheeran, Retired Deputy Director, NCC and District Governor Lions Club and Mr Vinoth, President of Tamil Nadu Fashion Pageants Association, joined as the guest of honor and prizes were distributed to the winners:

    Following the prize distribution ceremony, the students attached their sign to the vision wall signature banner to indicate their desire to their corneas and made an eye formation to demonstrate their commitment to this cause. There were 120 staff members and students present.

     

    The MOHAN Foundation is deeply grateful to the College Management for the opportunity, the judges for their invaluable time, and Dr. Menaka E, Assistant Professor, SKCW, and Dr. K Shivasakari, Head of the Department, SKCW, for their assistance in organizing the program.
