MOHAN Foundation was invited for an awareness program by Central Reserve Police Force Camp in Karayanchavadi, Chennai on 03rd January 2017.
The program was conducted by Dr. Hemal Kanvinde and Mr. Siva Shankar of MOHAN Foundation. The green ribbons were issued to the participants in support of organ donation.
Mr. P Manoj Kumar, Commandant,77 Battalion, Central Reserve Police Force, Karianchavadi welcomed Dr. Hemal and Mr. Siva Shankar to the audience, before that a video was played on Tamil Nadu and Organ Donation followed by Brain Death Explanation in Hindi.
Dr. Hemal started the presentation with the activities that are been carried out by MOHAN Foundation and why, what, when and how on Organ Donation. The main part in the presentation was the procedure on the transplantation of the organs from a Brain Death person. She also touched on the myths on organ donation. The presentation went on around half an hour.
Followed by Q & A session which went on for 10 minutes. The discussion was mainly about the eye donation, transplant time of the organs and about skin donation.
The questions were:
Will MOHAN Foundation help in getting the organ for the recipient? If the death happens in remote area will organ donation take place? Does MOHAN Foundation have a hospital?
Around 130 CRPF jawans, officers and clerical staff attended the program and 50 signed on their donor cards to support organ donation.
