Celebrating World Kidney Day with Kidney recipients, Donors, those on Dialysis and Caregivers

  • On February 25, 2024, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Ms. Vasundhara Raghavan of Kidney Warriors Foundation to be a part of the Patient Support Group meeting conducted at Thane. The main objective was to begin a Thane circle of the community.


    Ms Jaya Jairam was invited to share 'Living Life well after Transplant'. She shared about the need for gratitude, the importance of having that one reason to get up everyday in the morning while living with kidney failure, and the importance of safeguarding the transplanted kidney without any compromise in travel, work and pursuing one's passion. She also introduced MOHAN Foundation and its activities to the group and encouraged them to take up awareness initiatives about deceased organ donation and thus champion the cause.


    Other speakers included Senior Nephrologist Dr Niwrutti Hase, who spoke from his heart about his experiences while treating his patients. He also shared the hazards of alternate medicines and therapies from persons claiming to reverse kidney disease. Other experts included Nephrologists Dr Aniket Hase and Dr Vaibhav Keskar of Fortis Hospital, Mulund. Mr Nishant Sarvagod, Transplant Coordinator at Fortis spoke about the process of Registering on Waiting list for a Kidney transplant.
    Other recipients too shared their stories of grit and how they had to overcome great challenges, up until they underwent transplant which has led to a much better Quality of Life. Around 30 people attended the Support Group meeting.
    MOHAN Foundation thanks Ms Vasundhara Raghavan for undertaking such a wonderful initiative.
