On 18th May 2018, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mr. Sudhir Laturkar of Rachana Aangana Apartment, Subash Nagar, Nagpur to conduct an awareness talk on Organ Donation for the residents.
The session was conducted by Dr. Ravi Wankhede, Director of MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur. Dr. Wankhede gave information about MOHAN Foundation, its mission, vision and history. The concept of organ donation was introduced and types of organs and tissues that can be donated, types of death, brain death and cardiac death, difference between brain death and coma were presented.
He also discussed the various myths and facts pertaining to organ donation. Information about organ allocation and distribution was also shared. One of the residents shared his personal experience about his relative suffering from kidney failure. Dr. Ravi Wankhede also shared his personal story about how he donated a kidney to his friend.
20 participants pledged to donate organs. Participants said that they would discuss with their family and pick the donor card. Dr. Wankhede thanked Mr.Sudhir Laturkar for inviting the Foundation and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
