Awareness talk at DCSmat college motivates students to volunteer for the cause

  • Following to the Blood Donation and Organ Donation Awareness Stall conducted on 16th November 2015. Mr. Anoop, Faculty of DCSmat invited MOHAN Foundation to educate their students on Organ Donationon 26th November 2015.

    DCSMAT Business School is one among the best business schools in India offering AICTE approved two year residential Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) courses.

    Ms. Kavitha. S, Marketing Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation addressed the gathering. The programme was organized at the seminar hall in the DCSmat. The programme started with welcome speech by The Director, DCSmat. Following  that, Ms. Kavitha. S addressed the gathering. The session started with the need of Organ Donation in Kerala and statics of people waiting for organ transplantation. Her talk was concentrated to the following topics

    • Types of Organ Donation - Live and Deceased Donation
    • Difference between Brain death and Coma
    • Importance of Donor card
    • Tissues and organs that can be donated
    • Importance of family consent and Toll free Helpline
    • Whole Body donation
    • Contra indication for Organ Donation
    • Procedure for Deceased Organ Donation
    • Role of Kerala Network for Organ Sharing (KNOS)
    • States having Deceased Donation programme

    Many queries were raised such as

    • Is the donor card accepted universally
    • Why is my family’s decision more important than signing the donor card

    All queries were answered. Nearly 60 people, a mixed group of Faculty and students attended the programme. From that 10 students volunteered to help in the Signature Campaign on the next day on 27th November 2015.
