Awareness stalls about Organ Donation organized in Nagpur in association with Vigyan Bharati at CRS campus

  • In association with Vijgyan Bharati, Mr. Bulu Behera, Transplant coordinator - MOHAN Foundation organized stalls in Vishweshwaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) Nagpur. Dr. Suresh Bhatt assistant director of VNIT College invited us to organize stalls on organ donation awareness during the 7 days of science exhibition from 22nd to 28th February 2022. Mr. Bulu Behera organised stalls with MOHAN Foundations donor cards, broachers, standee & banners. Students and faculty members of various schools and colleges of Nagpur participated in the event. Around 10,000 people visited the stall.

    During this event Mr. Bulu addressed the participants and explained them about the below concepts of organ donation

    1. Introduction about MOHAN Foundation and its activities.
    2. Organ donation and its types
    3. What is death and 2 types of deaths- Brain death and circulatory death was explained.
    4. Age limit to donate organs.
    5. Information about NOTTO, ROTTO-SOTTO was provided.
    6. Process of eye and skin donation
    7. Information about enrolling under ZTCC and organ allocation process was explained.
    8. Information about THO Act was given.

     

     Participants who visited the stall asked the below questions:

    1. Is it legal to buy and sell organs?
    2. What happenes after the person is declared as Brain dead?
    3. How to get a donor card?
    4. What benefit does MOHAN Foundation gets by conducting awareness events on organ donation?

     

    100 of them got inspired by MOHAN Foundation’s activities and pledged their organs. We thank Dr. Suresh Bhatt for inviting us to organize a stall in the Science Exhibition and also for supporting the noble cause of organ donation.
