Awareness session on Organ Donation conducted for NSS students of Maharshi Devanand College, Mumbai

  • On March 2nd 2022 Ms. Rashmi Shetty conducted an awareness session for NSS students of Maharshi Devanand College. She invited them to MOHAN Foundation office and introduced herself, MOHAN Foundation, and its activities.

    Thereafter, she started her presentation by explaining the below contents:

    1. Concept of Organ Donation was explained.
    2. Living donor and Deceased donor
    3. Age limit to donate organs
    4. Types of Death- Brain death and Circulatory death
    5. Concept of Brain death and which organs and tissues can be donated after brain death was explained with examples
    6. Myths and Facts about organ donation was discussed
    7. Donor card and its importance was discussed with the participants.
    8. MOHAN Foundation’s helpline number was displayed to the audience.
    9. Need of organ donation in India

     

    Ms. Rashmi discussed about the different courses, which is offered through MOHAN Foundation and stressed about the importance of pledging their organs. She then told them to get involved in voluntary activities and internship programs of MOHAN Foundation.

    She practically showed them how to pledge their organs.7 participants participated in the session.

    Questions asked by the students were as follows:

    1. Why can’t organs be donated after circulatory death?
    2. How is skin donation done?

     

    The students thanked Ms. Rashmi for approaching them and presenting them a meaningful talk about organ donation. They told Ms. Rashmi that they will be willing to participate in any voluntary activities which will be conducted through MOHAN Foundation.
