A session on organ donation awareness was held at Orchid Hospital Lalpur, Ranchi on May 7, 2026, aimed at educating patients and their caregivers on the significance of organ donation. Approximately 20 patients and their attendants took part in the session.
The session emphasized the importance of organ and tissue donation, highlighting its life-saving benefits and the necessity of fostering a positive attitude towards donation. Attendees were informed about the potential of one donor to save multiple lives through organ donation and enhance many more through tissue donation. Active participation was observed as participants engaged in discussions and posed questions to enhance their understanding of the donation and transplantation processes.
A query raised during the session was regarding the necessity of pledging for organ donation. It was clarified that while pledging indicates a person's willingness to donate, informing family members about this decision is equally crucial, as family consent is pivotal. IEC materials were also used during the session to help participants understand the concepts more clearly. The session helped clear doubts among participants, encouraged open conversation around organ donation, and motivated them to support this noble cause by spreading awareness among their families and communities.
