Awareness session on Organ Donation at Central Bank of India, Regional Office, Bhubaneswar

  • On the occasion of 107th Foundation Day of Central Bank of India, MOHAN Foundation, Cuttack was invited by the Central Bank of India (CBI) Regional Office at Bhubaneswar to conduct Organ Donation Awareness Programme on 7th December 2017.  It was coordinated by Mr. Satyajeet Sahoo, Asst. Manager, Planning & Development, CBI. Ms. Anindita Sabath, Transplant Coordinator, represented MOHAN Foundation at the programme.

    Staff members and Branch Managers from various branches across the region participated in the programme. Mr. S.K Bhattacharya, Senior Regional Manager started the programme by felicitating MOHAN Foundation and giving the welcome address. He shared his ideas and knowledge regarding Organ Donation.

    Ms. Anindita Sabath started the presentation by giving an introduction about MOHAN Foundation and the work it does. She then talked about the concept of Organ Donation, when can organs be donated, who can donate organs and most importantly why is it so important to donate. She also discussed the myths and misconceptions regarding organ donation and gave a brief idea about the Transplantation of Human Organs Act, 1994.

    A discussion session followed the presentation where the audience raised many queries related to organ donation. Questions were asked on donation of tissues after natural death, the cornea and skin retrieval procedure and whom to contact for donation. It was quite an interactive session. Pledge forms, donor cards and brochures were distributed among all. At the end 2 motivational videos on Organ Donation were shown.

    A total of 41 participants attended the session.

    We wish to convey our heartfelt thanks to Central Bank of India, for organising this session and thereby supporting the cause. Mr. S.K Bhattacharya has also assured for such sessions with their employees in the future to keep them motivated for the cause.
