On 7th November 2019 an awareness session was organised in Silvassa by Dr Vinod Kumar and Mrs Anita for the followers of Sant Nirankaris Mission and preachers from Nirankaris Bhavan. MOHAN Foundation and Dr. Satya Sharma (NHSBT & Advisory Member MOHAN Foundation) was invited for giving awareness about the Organ Donation.
Mrs Anita introduced about the speakers after the Evening Prayer meeting of 7 pm at Nirankaris Bhavan. Dr Satya Sharma held an awareness session and spoke about the importance of Organ Donation. He gave few examples close to the mission of Sant Nirankaris Mission which was inspiring for followers. Dr Jimmy introduced MOHAN Foundation, its mission, vision & philanthropy. She introduced the concept of Organ and tissue donation. She also explained the types of death viz. Cardiac and Brain Death and the organs and tissues that can be donated. She elaborated the procedure about bone donation which was new topic for the crowd. She also described that tissue donation (skin & eyes) can happen even at home. She also explained about the financial cost involved in different transplant operations. She promptly gave answers like what lifestyles changes to be done to avoid Kidney failure inquired by the crowd.
About 100 people attended the session. About 10 pledges were taken and few pledges were taken online. We thank Satya Sharma who had come from UK and collaborated us promoting the cause of Organ Donation. We thank Dr Vinod Kumar (Senior Resident Vinoba Bhave Civil Hospital Silvassa) and Mrs Anita Kumar (Assistant Incharge Official language Dept.Secretariat Dadra & Nagar Haveli Silvassa) for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
