Awareness Talk on Organ Donation for NCC Cadets & JCOs at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, Punjab

  • On 25th June 2019, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Col Jasbir Singh to conduct awareness talk on organ donation for their NCC Cadets, 05 Officers, 05 ANOs, 04 JCOs. Around 700 Cadets from Colleges and Schools of Punjab participated in the program.

    Col Jabir Singh addressed the audience telling them about the importance of Organ Donation and it provides the opportunity to improve the quality of life saving the lives of other. It is the greatest gift one can ever give.

    Firstly, Neha Sharma introduced herself to the students and after that she asked the questions from students to check their knowledge about organ donation and transplantation.

    Participants were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death by Ms.Neha Sharma.

    In this talk she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on Organ Donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants and how they became a legacy
    • Importance of Donor card
    • To pledge their organs they can register at MOHAN Foundation
    • MOHAN Foundation mission & vision

    The awareness talk ended with a vote of thanks by Col. Jasbir Singh. They encouraged the Cadets to aware and spread message of organ donation. The entire group got motivated and was an interactive session. All the questioned have been answered after the presentation and 80 donor cards being picked by the cadets along with the JCOs. In the end they showed great interest and would like to do more programs with MOHAN Foundation.
