Awareness Talk on Organ Donation conducted by MOHAN Foundation at Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) Training School, Nand Nagri Depot, Delhi

  • On May 29, 2023, the MOHAN Foundation conducted an organ donation awareness session for the group of DTC bus conductors undergoing refresher training at the DTC Training School, Nand Nagri Depot, Delhi. This was the month's fifth session. Ms. Simran Anand, Programme Officer at the MF Delhi office, was the session's presenter.

     

    Ms. Simran initiated the session by inquiring about the participants' knowledge of organ donation. She then explained to the participants the fundamentals of organ donation. The term brain death was defined by means of a brief educational film. Ms. Simran clarified the concept of legal death and the processes involved in a brain death declaration for the participants. The following subjects were discussed in depth: 

    • The importance of organ donation in society
    • When and how does organ donation take place?
    • Organs that can be donated during life and after death
    • Transplant waiting list in India
    • Brain death
    • difference between brain death and coma
    • Role of the MOHAN Foundation
    • Myths and facts about organ donation
    • Cornea donation
    • How to pledge for organ donation
    • Green corridor

     

    Throughout the session, the participants frequently posed questions. To name a few. 

    • What is the process for pledging for organ donation?
    • Is there any government organization working for the same cause?

     

    Close to 71 participants attended the session.
