  On 18^th August 2023, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation at Vila Marie Degree College for Women in Somajiguda, Hyderabad. The session was conducted for the first year Mass Communication Students of the college. Ms. Srividya.S and Dr. Bhanu Prakash were the key speakers.

  The following were discussed in detail

  • What is organ donation? Who can donate an organ?
  • What is brain death and natural death?
  • After brain death, which organs and tissues can be donated?
  • Live person, which organs can be donated, and what are the criterias for a  living donation?
  • Information regarding body donation and eye donation
  • What are the legal and ethical implications of organ donation?
  • What does the Transplantation of Human Organs Act of 1994 say about organ donation? 

  Ms. Srividya.S spoke about the role of social media in promoting organ donation and highlighted the volunteering opportunities and courses available at MOHAN Foundation. The students enthusiastically posed several questions. The HOD of Mass Communication Department shared her experience of donating her husband’s corneas and urged the students to pledge for organ donation.
