On August 12, 2024, Mr. Gabriel Pereira, an organ donation ambassador from MOHAN Foundation, was invited to conduct an organ donation awareness talk for the staff of Taj Exotica Resort and Spa, Benaulim, Goa, in commemoration of National Organ Donation Day.
Gabriel began the presentation by introducing himself and MOHAN Foundation. He explained the significance of organ donation, detailing the different organs available for donation, the organs that both living and brain-dead individuals can donate, and the definition of brain stem death. He covered these topics through a PowerPoint presentation.
He also described the various options for pledging to donate organs. Gabriel presented a QR code and discussed Form 2 of the driving license, explaining that ticking the designated box signifies the holder's organ donation pledge. He emphasized the importance of informing one's family or next-of-kin about their desire to donate organs, noting that in India, an opt-in policy is followed, requiring the consent of the family or next-of-kin to proceed with the donation.
A total of 20 employees attended the session.
