

On 29th July 2016, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Ms. Mamta Sharma Assistant Professor, State Council of Educational Research & Training, Chandigarh to conduct an awareness session for their newly recruited JBT teachers. Which was the part of a 20 days long training session. Around 30 teachers from different schools of Chandigarh attended the session. They invited the foundation on the advice of Ms. Bhawna Garg, IAS, Secy. Finance & Director, Social Welfare Department, Chandigarh.
Teachers were given an introduction and presentation on Organ donation and Brain Death by Mr. Deepika Arora.
In this Talk she explained the following points :-
Importance and need of organ donation
Importance of donor card
Difference between natural death & brain death
Types of donation – Live and Deceased
MOHAN Foundation activities – website & helpline no
Teachers asked following questions :-
What is the time duration for eye storage in eye bank.
Whom to contact for Eye Donation
Why there is not any special Provision for organ donors and their family that they should get some card or certificate, like Blood Donation that gives them priority when they need organ transplant.
It was a very interactive session. 30 Brochures and 5 Donor cards were picked up by Teachers.
