Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at State Council of Educational Research & Training, Chandigarh for newly recruited JBT Teachers – Session 2

  • On 29th July 2016, MOHAN foundation was invited by Ms. Mamta Sharma Assistant Professor, State Council of Educational Research & Training, Chandigarh to conduct an awareness session for their newly recruited JBT teachers. Which was the part of a 20 days long training session. Around 80 teachers from different schools of Chandigarh attended the session. They invited the foundation on the advice of Ms. Bhawna Garg, IAS, Secy. Finance & Director, Social Welfare Department, Chandigarh.

     

    Teachers were given an introduction and presentation on Organ donation and Brain Death by Mr. Deepika Arora. The talk focused on concepts of organ donation and transplantation.

    Explained the following points :-

    Types of Death

    In case of brain death which organs and tissues can be donated

    In case of natural death which tissues can be donated

    Tissues and organs donations by living person

    Myths and misconceptions on organ donation

     

    Teachers asked following questions :-

    Why cost of the transplant is so expensive

    Whom to contact for eye donation

    Still how many people signed donor card in your organization

     

    It was indeed and amazing session. 80 Brochures and 65 Donor cards were picked up by Teachers.
