Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Shakuntala Devi Foundation, Beauty Culture Toga Village, Punjab by Ambassador Mrs. Parveen Mahajan

  • On 2nd August 2025, On the Occasion of Organ Donation Day Mrs. Parveen Mahajan, Ambassador, MOHAN Foundation, conducts awareness session on organ donation for the students of SDF, Beauty culture Toga Village Punjab.  Around 40 students attended the session.

     Shakunatala Devi Foundation is a Chandigarh based non-profit organization. It is a family run trust working for the empowerment of women. They believe in imparting skills to women so that they become financially independent. The organization is committed for Social Welfare programs, working for women empowerment.

    At the beginning of the session, Ambassador Mrs. Praveen Mahajan welcomed all the participants.

    In this talk, she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation and its need
    • When and how does organ donation take place
    • Organs that can be donated during life and after death
    • The transplant waiting list in India
    • Brain death
    • Difference between brain death and coma
    • Contraindications to organ donation
    • Transplant Law
    • Role of MOHAN Foundation
    • Organ donation Myths and Facts
    • Eye Donation
    •  The students of Shakuntala Devi Foundation actively participated in the event.
    • As part of the awareness activities, the students designed posters on organ donation, creatively expressing its significance and benefits.
    • A dedicated video was also prepared to promote the message of organ donation more effectively within the community.

    Mrs. Parveen Mahajan shared detailed insights on the process, need, and social impact of organ donation, ensuring that the participants gained a clear understanding of the cause.

    Community Impact

    Toga village has emerged as a progressive example in the field of organ and body donation. The growing awareness has led to remarkable contributions from the community, including two body donations made to PGIMER Chandigarh. This reflects the deep commitment of the village towards social welfare and public health advancement.

    The Organ Donation Awareness Program at Shakuntala Devi Foundation was both educational and inspiring. It not only motivated students but also reinforced the importance of organ and body donation within the larger community. The initiative stands as a testament to how grassroots-level awareness can create a lasting social impact.
