Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Rotary Club Sector-18, Chandigarh

  • MOHAN Foundation was invited by Rotary President, Mr.Vinod Kapoor to conduct awareness talk on Organ Donation on 31st October 2022 at Rotary House Sector-18, Chandigarh. Around 100 delegates from Rotary Club Chandigarh participated.

     

    Mr. Sudhir Dewan addressed the audience telling them how important is Organ Donation and it provides a great opportunity in everyone’s life to come forward and pledge to donate their organs can save lives.

     

    Mr. Sudhir Dewan began the session by introducing MOHAN foundation, its objectives and visions. Following which the basic concepts of organ donation and transplantation were explained with the help of a PowerPoint presentation.

     

    The following points explained in detail:

    • Organ donation and its need in the society
    • Transplant waiting list in India.
    • Facts and myths on organ donation.
    • Difference between brain death and coma.
    • Laws enacted for transplantation.
    • Importance of the donor card.
    • How to pledge or sign up for organ donation on MOHAN Foundation's website.
    • The importance of family consent in the process of organ donation.
    • Myths around organ donation
    • Real-life stories of organ donors of Chandigarh
    • Importance of donor card

     

    The session was very interactive where participants enthusiastically contributed to the discussion and raised queries, such as: 

    • What is the procedure of Body Donation?
    • Whom to contact for Organ Donation after death?

     

    At the end, Rotary President Mr. Vinod Kapoor gave the vote of thanks. He said the session was very fruitful. The entire audience got motivated and convinced to support Organ Donation. It was a very interactive session and all members pledged to donate Organs. Audience did applaud in the end for the efforts taken by MOHAN Foundation. It was a great program and the audience would come forward to engage by motivating others.
