Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Mahavir Public Senior Secondary School, Sunder Nagar, Himachal Pradesh

  • On 22nd May 2018, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the Mahavir Public Senior Secondary School, Sundernagar, Himachal Pradesh to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for their students which was held in a big hall. Around 214 students participated in the program.

     

    Mrs. Chetna, Coordinator addressed the gathering and gave a brief introduction on organ donation to the participants.

     

    Firstly, Aruna Kumari Salwani introduced herself to the students and after that she asked the questions from students to check their knowledge about organ donation and transplantation.

     

    Participants were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death by Ms. Aruna Kumari Salwani.

     

    In this talk she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on Organ Donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants
    • Importance of Donor card
    • To pledge their organs they can register at MOHAN Foundation
    • MOHAN Foundation mission & vision

     

    All the students were motivated and assured that they would spread the message of Organ Donation and take a pledge to donate the organs.

    At the end of the presentation everyone applauded and we would like to thank Mrs. Anuradha Jain, Principal and Mrs. Chetna, Coordinator of Mahavir Public Senior Secondary School Sunder Nagar for their support.
