Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Govt. Girls Senior Secondary School, Bhangrotu, Mandi, Himachal Pradesh

  • On 12th June2018, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the Govt. Girls Senior Secondary School, Bhangrotu, Mandi, Himachal Pradesh to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for their students which was held in a classroom. Around 36 arts students participated in the program.

     

    Firstly, Aruna Kumari Salwani introduced herself to the students and after that she asked the questions from students to check their knowledge about organ donation and transplantation.

     

    Participants were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death by Ms. Aruna Kumari Salwani.

     

    In this talk she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on Organ Donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants
    • Importance of Donor card
    • To pledge their organs they can register at MOHAN Foundation
    • MOHAN Foundation’s mission & vision

     

    Questions and discussion after the awareness-

    1. Who can become an organ donor?

     

    All the students were motivated and assured that they would spread the message of Organ Donation and take a pledge to donate the organs.

     

    At the end of the presentation everyone applauded and brochures were distributed to all the students.
