On 1st November, 2014 MOHAN Foundation Chandigarh conducted an awareness session for the school students of Government Model Senior Secondary School Sector-22, Chandigarh under the “Student Awareness Campaign” which started on, to cover all the students of government schools in Chandigarh. The Principal and Vice Principal of the School helped us a lot in arraigning the session and they supports the cause of organ donation. Ms. Akwinder Kaur who is the biology lecturer in the school also helped a lot in arranging the session.
Around 70 students along with some of the teachers participated in the program and they were from 11th and 12th standard and were given a presentation on the phenomenon of Brain Death and the process of organ donation through a presentation and videos by the Program Coordinator Nilakshi. The myths and misconception associated with organ donation were also discussed and got cleared. The donor cards were shown to them.
After the presentation students discussed the whole process of organ retrieval and transplantation and asked many interesting questions regarding that. Around 60 cards were taken by the students and teachers as well.
