Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Anadale Public School, Panchkula, Haryana

  • On 27th November 2021, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Principal Dr. Kiran Bhasin to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation on the occasion of National Organ Day for their senior students.  Around 40 students and 2 teachers attended the session.

     

    Ms. Neha Sharma Katoch introduced herself to the students and started asking students which organs can be donated while living? Most of the students were aware about kidney transplant.

     

    Participants were then given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death.

     

    The talk addressed the following: -

    • Organ donation and its need
    • When and how does organ donation take place?
    • Organs that can be donated during life and after death
    • The transplant waiting list in India
    • Brain death
    • Difference between brain death and coma
    • Contraindications to organ donation
    • Transplant Law
    • Role of MOHAN Foundation
    • Organ donation myths and facts
    • Eye donation

     

    The entire group got motivated and convinced to support organ donation. The awareness talk ended with a vote of thanks by the Principal Dr. Kiran Bhasin. She encouraged the students to make the society aware about organ donation and also mentioned how transplant can change lives are extremely powerful. She ended up saying donating organs is a generous and a worthwhile decision that can save lives.
