Awareness Talk & Information Stall on Organ Donation at Kharghar Railway Station, Mumbai

  • On 13th August 2019, on the occasion of World Organ Donation Day, Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai Sunrise District 3142 in association with Bhartiya Vidyapeeth, MOHAN Foundation was invited for installation of informative stall and for giving awareness about the Organ Donation at Kharghar Railway Station, Mumbai. The program was inaugurated by Rotarian President Mr. Biswaranjan Sabat.

    The Information Desk was held by Dr. Jimmy Gupta at Kharghar Railway Station entry point. All the arrangements and crowd management was supported by Rotarians & Nursing Students of the Bhartiya Vidyapeeth college. Rotarian Mr. Bhal Shekhar Chilana and Mr Nagrajan Iyer (Giants group of Kalyan President) who are MOHAN Foundation Life Member took this initiative to spread the awareness amongst general public.

    Dr Jimmy held few frequent awareness sessions and introduced MOHAN Foundation, its mission, vision and philanthropy. She introduced the concept of Organ and tissue donation. She also explained the types of death viz. Cardiac and Brain Death and the organs and tissues that can be donated. She explained the crowd that tissue donation (skin & eyes) can happen even at home. She also elaborated the procedure about bone donation.

    Nursing Students of the Bhartiya Vidyapeeth College also performed a skit on Brain Death & Organ Donation debunking various myths related to Organ Donation. Informative flyers were distributed to the public.

    Number of Rotarians participated -15, 3 Inner Wheel members and 15 students of Bharati Vidyapeeth participated in the campaign. About 500 commuters were reached and got 20 registrations & few were filled online. We thank Rotarian President Mr. Biswaranjan Sabat, Mr. Bhal Shekhar Chilana and Mr. Nagrajan Iyer for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
