Awareness Session on Organ Donation with Akhil Bhartiya Marwadi Mahila Sammelan

  • On August 6, 2025, at 4:30 PM a national webinar on organ donation awareness session as part of eleven days organ donation awareness campaign was organized with Akhil Bhartiya Marwadi Mahila Sammelan addressing the members of the Sammelan present from 24 states and 550 cities . An awareness session was conducted with the prominent speakers from ROTTO – SOTTO, hosted by Jaya Jairam, Project Director, MOHAN Foundation.  The session was also supported by prominent dignitaries  Nisha Modi (National secretary),Anju Saraogi (National President ), Sonal Modi (National editor).  Renu Agarwal (National eye donation organ donation chief) .A Total of 100 participants attended the session.

    The session began with beautiful chanting on Om Dhwani and Ganesh Dhwani by Babita Bagaria. Mrs. Babita welcomed all the members and speakers.

    Mrs. Jaya Jairam began the talk welcoming all the excited minds attending the session. She began the talk making everyone aware about the mission and objectives of MOHAN foundation. She started the talk defining organ donation, who can donate the organs. She explained the difference between Living and deceased organ donation.

    She also described that what organs can be donated in living donation. She further explained that one kidney can be donated and a portion of Liver, lungs, Pancreas can be donated. She clarified about who can be a donor in living organ donation and what protocol is followed during living organ donation.

    She also introduced participants about cardiac death and Brain stem death. She explained how cardiac death occurs. She cleared all the tissues that can be donated under cardiac death.

    Later she elaborated more on brain stem death. She explained what causes brain stem death.  She informed the organs and tissues that can be donated, process of donation, green corridor and family consent.  She elaborated more on how one brain stem death person can save 8 to 9 lives.

    In the last part of the webinar she explained about where India stands in organ donation as compared to other countries and the ratio of people awaiting for organs per million population. She explained that it is the need of the hour to focus more on deceased donation to meet the gap. Mrs Jaya Jairam also focused on pledge on organ donation, donor card, toll free help line number of MOHAN Foundation.

    Also , Mrs Anju Sarogi recalled that living donation takes places mostly by the loved ones or relatives. However, she highlighted that how a deceased organ donation can gift a life to a stranger.  

    In the last part of the webinar Mrs Sujata Consultant – IEC State and regional organ and tissue transplant organization introduced the participants on NOTTO , about ROTTO SOTTO and states covered under   ROTTO SOTTO such as Maharashtra , Gujarat, Goa , Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Diu Daman . She also highlighted aspects on  Human Organ Transplant Act -1994, registration of hospital for organ donation, living organ donation , distribution of organ donation regulated by ROTTO SOTTO, Green corridor and  regional monitoring  by ROTTO-SOTTO.

    In the Question & Answer session – questions were clarified on how a patient on life support can donate organs, how NOTTO regulates inter-state allocation of organs. 

    The webinar ended with end with a vote of thank by Mrs Sunaina Agarwal. She expressed a vote of thank to  Mrs Anju Sarogi (National President),  Mrs. Jaya Jairam (Project Director, MOHAN Foundation) , prominent speakers of the webinar  and all other the participants

    It was an engaging session attended carefully by the participants. The session was highly interactive with participants  and prominent speakers expressing their work in organ donation.

    The session was beautifully coordinated by the co host showcasing AV clips on organ donation, posters, appreciation certificates of organ donors all over Indi and activities carried out all over India.
