Awareness Session on Organ Donation for NCC Cadets at SD Vidya School, Ambala Cantt, Haryana

  • On 28th May 2018, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the Commandant, Col Ajay Singh Kanwarto conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for their NCC Cadets SD Vidya School, Ambala Cantt, Haryana. Around 350 Cadets from 7 Districts from Haryana Schools & Colleges participated in the program.

    Major Meenakshi addressed the gathering and gave a brief about MOHAN Foundation mission. Participants were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death by Ms. Aakriti Negi.

    In this talk she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on Organ Donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants and how they became a legacy
    • Importance of Donor card
    • To pledge their organs they can register at MOHAN Foundation
    • MOHAN Foundation mission & vision

    The entire audience got motivated and was an interactive session with the Cadets.

    Few questions were asked by the Cadets

    • Why is the family so important for Organ Donation?
    • Who tells the family about Brain Death?
    • If family agrees to donate, who receives it?

    All the questioned have been answered and 150 Cadets picked up the donor cards. Special thanks to Col Ajay Singh Kanwar for inviting MOHAN Foundation.
