Awareness Session on Organ Donation conducted at ICICI Academy for Skills Nampally, Hyderabad

  • On 5th November 2022, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on Organ Donation at ICICI Academy for Skills Nampally, Hyderabad. Dr Bhanu Prakash was the key resource.

    ICICI Academy for Skills is an initiative by ICICI Foundation to meet the demand for skilled labour and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for lesser privileged youth. The Academy offers industry – relevant and job-oriented vocational training in 10 technical and 3 office skill courses. 28, Academies spread across 20 States/Union Territories provide free of cost training empowers the youth to be self-sufficient individuals.

    Dr. Bhanu Prakash started the session by asking a few introductory questions on Organ Donation and then introduced MOHAN Foundation to the participants and kept the audience engaged throughout the session. The following were discussed in detail:

    • Organ donation and its need in the society
    • When and how does organ donation take place
    • Organs that can be donated during life and after death
    • Transplant waiting list in India
    • Brain death
    • Difference between brain death and coma
    • Role of MOHAN Foundation
    • Eye donation

    Dr. Bhanu Prakash motivated the students to pledge for Organ Donation and explained the importance of a donor card.

    Close to 90 students attended the session.
