Awareness Session on Organ Donation at UPHC Kshetrigao

  • On December 18, 2025, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation at the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Kshetrigao, Imphal East, Manipur. The session was facilitated by Ms. Moirangthem Priya, Program Executive, along with Mr. Victor Rajkumar, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Imphal.

     

    The session was organized as part of the UPHC’s Immunization initiative and was conducted in collaboration with Mrs. Premlata, Nurse In-Charge, UPHC.

     

    During the session, Ms. Priya explained the concept and significance of organ donation, highlighting the differences between organ donation from living donors and deceased donors. She emphasized the life-saving potential of organ donation and its vital role in improving the quality of life for patients suffering from end-stage organ failure. She also clearly stated that the sale or purchase of organs is a punishable offense under the law.

     

    Addressing common myths and misconceptions, she clarified that organ donation is supported by all major religions and reassured participants that cornea donation does not cause any disfigurement to the deceased.

     

    The session concluded with an emphasis on the impact of organ donation in saving lives and an appeal to participants to consider pledging their organs. Informational pamphlets were distributed to enable participants to further understand and learn about organ donation.

     

    Approximately 15 participants attended the session and gained valuable insights into the importance and impact of organ donation.
