On December 17, 2025, the MOHAN Foundation conducted an organ donation awareness session at Apna Ghar, Intas Foundation, Rishikesh, following an invitation from Mr Vinay Kumar, Project Associate, and Ms Somya Tomar, Project Counsellor, Intas Foundation. The session was attended by staff members and patients.
The session was conducted by Mr Arun Sharma, Program Executive, Uttarakhand, and was supported by Mr Sanchit Arora, Project Leader, MOHAN Foundation, AIIMS Rishikesh.
Mr Arun Sharma began the session by inviting participants to share their existing knowledge and perceptions of organ donation. He then provided a comprehensive overview of the concept and importance of organ donation, donor eligibility criteria, and the processes involved in living donation and donation after death. He also shared important information on eye and skin donation, including essential guidelines on post-death corneal preservation.
During the session, Mr Arun highlighted the mission and initiatives of the MOHAN Foundation, including the Anudaan initiative. He addressed common myths surrounding organ donation by clarifying facts and outlined practical ways in which individuals can contribute to and promote this life-saving cause.
The session was highly interactive, with participants raising several questions, including:
• How is the MOHAN Foundation linked with organ donation in India?
• Who is eligible to donate organs?
• Are there any benefits or incentives provided to donor families?
• Does religion support organ donation?
• Is organ donation possible after death if a person has not formally registered as an organ donor?
Following the discussion, one participant shared a personal experience about her sister having registered for corneal donation, while several others expressed their willingness to spread awareness within their communities.
Approximately 25 participants attended the session. Two individuals pledged to donate their organs, and two participants reported that they had already registered as organ donors.
