Awareness Session on Organ Donation at Rajshri Children Academy, Rishikesh

  • On April 17, 2026, MOHAN Foundation, Uttarakhand, in collaboration with Rotary Club Rishikesh Divas, organized an organ donation awareness program at Rajshri Children Academy, Rishikesh. The event was held at the invitation of Mr. Rajendra Prasad, Director of the school.

     

    Mr. Arun Sharma, Program Executive, MF, Uttarakhand, served as the resource speaker for the session, and was joined by Mr. Sanchit Arora, Project Leader – MOHAN Foundation, posted at AIIMS Rishikesh, and Dr. Subhangi Raina, President, Rishikesh Rotary Club Divas. The program was attended by students and staff of the school.

     

    Mr. Arun focused on the inclusivity of organ donation, emphasizing that donors can be of any race, religion, or age. He provided an in-depth overview of organ donation in India, covering the following topics:

     

    • What organ donation is and why it is important

    • Who can be an organ donor

    • Live and deceased donors

    • Organ donation during life and after death

    • Brain death vs. coma

    • Skin donation

    • The Transplantation of Human Organs & Tissues Act, 1994

    • Whole-body donation

    • Living kidney transplantation facilities at AIIMS Rishikesh

    • Myths and facts about organ donation

    • How individuals can contribute to the cause

    • Goals and objectives of MOHAN Foundation and the Anudaan initiative

     

    Mr. Arun concluded the session by highlighting the urgent need for organ donation in India and encouraged the students and staff to discuss the subject with their families, friends, and colleagues before deciding to pledge.

     

    Following the awareness talk, the Rotary Club Rishikesh Divas donated a computer to the school, supporting digital learning and enhancing educational resources for students.

     

    The program ended with students applauding the efforts of MOHAN Foundation and expressing their willingness to speak with their families about pledging their organs.

     

    The session was attended by nearly 80 participants.
