Awareness Session on Organ Donation at Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Bandra, Mumbai.

  • On August 7, 2025, an organ donation awareness session was organized at Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Bandra, Mumbai. It is a Indian central public sector undertaking. The session was organised on the occasion of Interactive session with ONGC veterans.  Around 400 retired employees were present for the program. Mrs Vandana introduced the employees about MOHAN foundation and requested Ms Sakshi to take over the discussion.

    She began the talk explaining their understanding about organ donation. She cleared the concept about what organ donation? Who are the donor and recipient?

    She defined organ donation very clearly. Later, she explained the difference between living and deceased donations, consent of the family, what can be donated in living donations. Ms Sakshi elaborated the enquiry process of donor and the recipient involved in living organ donation.  

    She also introduced employees about cardiac death and Brain stem death. She explained how cardiac death occurs. She cleared all the tissues that can be donated under cardiac death. She explained the employees about corneal donation, skin donation, heart valves and bones donation.

    Later she elaborated more on brain stem death. She explained what causes brain stem death.  She informed the organs and tissues that can be donated, process of donation, green corridor and family consent. 

    In the last part of the session she explained about the laws involved in organ donation, ZTCC, patient waiting list. She signified how deceased organ donation can bridge the gap with the patients waiting to receive the organs. 

    The talk was ended with the pledge, donor card and why it is important to discuss with the family about organ donation and tissue donation in the same manner life insurance is prioritised.

    It was an engaging session attended by curious, dynamic and energetic employees of ONGC. After the session, few employees interacted about the pledge and process of skin donation.
