On 3rd October 2018, MOHAN Foundation Mumbai was invited by Nirmaya Hospital, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai for awareness talk on Organ Donation.
Nirmaya Hospital representative Mr. Abhijit Kakan, introduced MOHAN Foundation as an NGO working as deceased organ donation since last 23 years.
The session was started by Mr. Akash Salve by introducing MOHAN Foundation, its mission, objectives and history. He then went on to ask them what came to their minds when they thought of Organ Donation. Many expressed with positive thoughts and emotions.
The concepts relating to Organ Donation were explained- The types of death, types of organ can be donated after brain death and tissue donation after cardiac death, difference between the brain death & coma etc. He also discussed the various myths & facts about organ donation. Information about organ allocation and distribution were also shared. Lastly an inspirational 5 minutes’ video was shown to give public a clear picture about Organ donation.
The staff raised a few queries and they were answered in proper manner. A few of them were inspired to volunteer with us and have enrolled for the Angel of Change workshop.
