

On November 8, 2024, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mr. Rahul Bhosale, Police In-Charge of Nerul Police Station, Navi Mumbai, to conduct an awareness session on organ donation. Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi, representing MOHAN Foundation, began by introducing the organization’s mission and engaging the police officials by asking their perceptions of organ donation, which elicited a mix of responses.
Ms. Prarthana explained key aspects of organ donation, including types of death (brain death and circulatory death), and the organs and tissues that can be donated. She clarified the distinction between brain death and coma and addressed common myths, aiming to increase understanding. Total 28 Police attended the session and 22 pledged for organ donation.The session also covered the organ allocation process and introduced MOHAN Foundation's toll-free helpline.
Further, Ms. Prarthana discussed the legal aspects of organ donation and the police's role in medico-legal cases (MLC) involving brain death, emphasizing the need for timely approval to preserve organs
