On March 12, 2026, SRDF – MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation at the Divisional Library South, Sector 34, Chandigarh, to sensitize the staff and readers. For the very first time, the Divisional Library hosted such a session, aiming to spread knowledge about the importance of organ donation as a lifesaving act and to inspire participants to become advocates for this noble cause.
The session began with a welcome address by the Library In-charge, who emphasized the role of libraries not only as centers of knowledge but also as platforms for social awareness.
Mrs. Preeti Gupta initiated the session by introducing MF-SRDF and MOHAN Foundation along with their mission and vision. She then addressed the concept of organ donation and highlighted its humanitarian significance. The following key aspects were covered:
The session became interactive, with participants asking questions that were addressed satisfactorily.
Around 30 participants from different sections of the library attended the session. They were encouraged to register with NOTTO (National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization) to continue living in the lives of others through organ donation.
This awareness session marked a milestone for the Divisional Library, Chandigarh, as it expanded its role from a knowledge hub to a center for social responsibility. By engaging both staff and readers, the initiative created a ripple effect of awareness in the community. The program is expected to continue in future, strengthening the humanitarian mission of organ donation advocacy.
