The session was organized at the invitation of Dr. Samir Bhargava, Assistant Professor and President of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Uttarakhand.

The session was part of the National Pharmacy Week 2025 celebrations, themed “Pharmacists as Advocates of Vaccination.” It was jointly coordinated by the Faculty of Pharmacy, in collaboration with the Arogya Club, Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India (APTI), and the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA).

Mr. Sanchit Arora, Project Leader – MOHAN Foundation, posted at AIIMS Rishikesh, served as the resource speaker for the session, accompanied by Mr. Arun Sharma, Program Executive, MF Uttarakhand. He also shared a personal experience, recounting how, at the time of his mother’s passing, no team arrived for corneal retrieval. As a result, the opportunity for donation was lost, and the family proceeded with cremation.

    • Living and deceased donation

    • Organ donation during life and after death

Mr. Sanchit concluded the session by highlighting the urgent need for organ donation in India and encouraged students and staff to discuss the subject with their families, friends, and colleagues before pledging.

Following the presentation, participants raised several queries, such as:

    • What challenges do recipients face after transplantation?

    • Can we opt out after pledging?

    • What benefits are provided to the donor’s family?

    • How can one register for an organ transplant?

    • What criteria determine organ recipient prioritization?

The program concluded with remarks by Dr. Samir Bhargava, who expressed gratitude to the MOHAN Foundation & participants for their meaningful contributions.

Students appreciated the efforts of MOHAN Foundation and expressed their willingness to discuss organ donation with their families.

The session was attended by nearly 90 participants, and 7 individuals pledged to donate their organs through the NOTTO website.
