  • On November 15, 2025, MOHAN Foundation conducted an organ donation awareness session at the Sahayog Multistate Credit Society – Rishikesh Branch, following an invitation from Branch Manager Mr. Sumit Juneja. The session was facilitated by Mr. Sanchit Arora, Project Leader at MOHAN Foundation (AIIMS Rishikesh), accompanied by Mr. Arun Sharma, Program Executive, Uttarakhand.

Mr. Arora began by encouraging attendees to share their existing understanding of organ donation, creating an open and engaging atmosphere. He then delivered a detailed presentation explaining what organ donation is and why it is important, who can become an organ donor, the differences between living and deceased donation, and how organ donation works both during life and after death. He further clarified the concept of brain death and how it differs from a coma, along with key information on eye and skin donation, including guidelines for preserving corneas after death. The session also covered the Transplantation of Human Organs Act, 1994, the goals of MOHAN Foundation and its Anudaan initiative, common myths and facts about organ donation, and the various ways individuals can contribute to this life-saving cause.

The session remained highly interactive, with participants asking questions about whether families are informed about who receives donated organs, how to initiate organ donation after death, the timeframe for retrieving organs and tissues, the process of organ allocation, and how one can pledge to donate.

In conclusion, Mr. Arora encouraged the attendees to have open conversations with their families, friends, and colleagues about organ donation. He also recommended watching the film Aye Zindagi on Zee5 or YouTube for further insight into the emotional impact of organ donation.

Approximately 10 staff members attended the session. Many expressed willingness to pledge after discussing with their families, and 4 participants pledged their organs on the NOTTO website after the session.
