Awareness Session on Organ Donation at ASHA Community Hall, Khundrakpam, Manipur

  • On July 19, 2022, Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Programme Officer, MOHAN Foundation and Ms. Th. Udayini Khuman, Transplant Co-ordinator, MOHAN Foundation were invited to deliver a talk on organ donation in association with the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Imphal-East Mobile Vaccination team at ASHA Community Hall, Khundrakpam, Manipur.

     

    The session was attended by Ms. S. Chanulembi (Vaccinator), Ms. Sneha (Data Entry Operator), Ms. Sanahanbi (ASHA) along with the community people residing in the area.

     

    Ms. Laishram Monica Devi started the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation and its objectives to promote organ donation in the society. For the convenience of the community participants, the session was conducted in Manipuri language.

     

    Points discussed while delivering the talk :-

    • Types of donation and who can be a donor.
    • Status of organ donation in India and in Manipur.
    • Present scenario of corneal donation in the region.
    • Facts and myths on organ donation.
    • Difference between circulatory death, brain death and coma.
    • Sharing of stories of transplantation done recently in JNIMS.
    • Importance of the donor card
    • How to pledge or sign up for organ donation on MOHAN Foundation's website.
    • MOHAN Foundation’s mission & vision

     

    The talk concluded with Q & A session. After the talk, one of the participant voluntarily signed up for organ donation and got herself photographed with the Donor Card. Close to 40 participants attended the session.
