  • SRDF-MF was honoured to be invited by Col.

Pawandeep Singh, Commanding Officer of 1 Punjab Battalion NCC Amritsar, to conduct an awareness session on organ donation for NCC cadets. The program was held at Baba Kuma Singh Engineering College, Satlani Sahib, Hoshiar Nagar, Amritsar, with the participation of nearly 350 cadets from schools and colleges across Amritsar, along with 10 officers.

The session was inaugurated by Mrs. Sangeeta Jamwal, Head of Operations at SRDF-MF, who introduced the mission and vision of the foundation. She emphasized organ donation as a true “gift of life” and highlighted the critical role of youth in championing this noble cause. Mrs. Jamwal also presented the current status of organ donation in India, comparing national statistics with global benchmarks and discussing policies such as the opt-out system.

Following this, Ms. Preeti Gupta led an engaging session covering:

    • The concept and impact of organ and tissue donation
    • Eligibility and types of donors (live related/unrelated)
    • Differences between natural death, brain death, and coma
    • Eye donation and corneal preservation procedures
    • Dispelling common myths with fact
    • Inspiring real-life transplant stories.
    • The importance of donor cards and pledging, including family discussions

The session was highly interactive, with cadets and officers actively participating and expressing their support. The Commandant and officers concluded by encouraging all cadets to pledge their organs and spread awareness among family, friends, and teachers.

This initiative not only educated the participants but also inspired them to become ambassadors for organ donation, reinforcing the message that donating organs is the ultimate act of giving life.
