Awareness Session for Junior NSS Students

  • Dr. N Y Khandait, Principal of the G S College, Law College Square, Nagpur invited MOHAN Foundation to deliver an awareness talk for a  group of junior NSS students. The session took place on 25th January 2019 at Sanjivan Old Age Home in Amgaon, Nagpur. Mr Bulu Behera, Transplant Coordinator from MOHAN Foundation delivered the talk which was attended by around 30 students and staff.

    Mr. Behera gave information about organ donation and transplantation. In his talk he explained the following points:

    • Importance of organ donation
    • Type of donors
    • The tissues that could be donated in case of natural death
    • Brain death and the organs and tissues that can be donated in case of brain death
    • Myths related to organ donation
    • Whole body donation
    • Importance of Donor Cards
    • Importance of Help Line number and MOHAN Foundation website

    Following the talk, the audience had the following questions:

    • What is bone marrow?
    • What is pancreas and how could it be donated by a living person?
    • What is the difference between coma and brain death?

    At the end of the session around 4 participants signed up as organ donors and received their donor cards. The NSS in-charge Mr. Vinayak M Jawade thanked MOHAN Foundation and the participants.
