Awareness Session conducted at Swami Narayan Mandir Wathoda, Nagpur.

  • On 28th October 2019, Mohan Foundation in association with Transplants – Help the Poor Foundation conducted awareness session on organ donation for public awareness at Swami Narayan Mandir Wathoda, Nagpur. It was organized by Mrs Puja Tiwari (Coordinator of Swami Narayan School) and conducted by Prarthana Dwivedi (Transplant Coordinator) in the occasion of Annakut festival.

    Ms Prarthana Dwivedi introduced Mohan foundation by stating that, MOHAN is an acronym for 'Multi Organ Harvesting Aid Network'. Then she spoke about what organs a live donor can donate in case of an emergency to save the life of a family member or a loved one. She then elaborated about the different types of death viz. Cardiac & brain death and what organs & tissues can be donated in each case. The concept of Brain death was introduced and the causes of brain death were explained. She also explained the difference between coma and brain dead.

    About 200 teachers and students are attended the talk and the brochures containing information about organ donation were also distributed. About 20 took the pledge to be an Organ Donor.

    We are thankful to Dr Kothari (Principle of swami Narayan School) and Mrs Laxmi Rao (Vice Principle) and Mrs Puja Tiwari (Coordinator of Swami Narayan School) for giving us the opportunity to conduct the session and for supporting the noble cause.
