On September 12, 2025, MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur, organized an awareness and guidance session for children (interns) as part of its public education initiatives on organ donation. The session aimed to prepare the students to use street plays as a tool for spreading awareness in the community.
The activity was facilitated by Ms. Neha Sailwar and Ms. Bhagyashree Nighot, who played a key role in mentoring and guiding the young participants throughout the session.
The session began with Ms. Neha suggesting a variety of themes for the street play, each centered around organ donation and transplantation awareness. She helped the students understand the key concepts and guided them through the process of script writing, encouraging them to use simple, relatable language for maximum public impact.
Once the themes and scripts were drafted collaboratively, the students began rehearsals. During the practice sessions, Ms. Neha and Ms. Bhagyashree provided real-time feedback—correcting dialogue, clarifying complex medical terms like brain death, and ensuring the portrayal of the counselling process was accurate and respectful.
Ms. Bhagyashree also enriched the session by explaining key elements of the THOTA Act, helping the participants better understand the legal and ethical framework surrounding organ donation. Her contributions added depth and clarity to the content of the play.
By the end of the session, the 8 participating students were well-prepared and confident in performing their street play. The activity served not only as a rehearsal but also as an educational session, deepening their understanding of organ donation and how to effectively communicate it to the community.
