  • An Organ Donation Awareness Session was conducted on June 14, 2025, at My Care Elderly Wellness Centre, Bhyandarpada, Thane West, Mumbai. The session aimed to educate the elderly community about the significance and life-saving impact of organ and tissue donation.

The session was effectively conducted by Ms. Sakshi, who spoke with clarity and compassion. She explained the difference between organ donation and tissue donation, detailing how various organs (like the heart, liver, kidneys) and tissues (such as corneas, skin, bones) can be donated and used to save or improve lives.

She emphasized the value of this "Gift of Life", helping the attendees understand how their decision to pledge can offer hope and healing to patients waiting for transplants.

The session was attended by around 20 people, and it was encouraging to see 2 individuals pledge to become organ donors by the end of the talk.

The participants showed keen interest and asked relevant questions, such as:

    1. What is the process to register as an organ donor?
    2. What is the purpose of the Donor Card, and how is it used?

Ms. Sakshi addressed these queries patiently, explaining that the registration process is simple and can often be done online or through authorised organisations. She clarified that the Donor Card serves as an expression of one’s wish to donate organs, and while it is not legally binding, it helps inform family members and medical personnel of the donor's intentions.

We extend our sincere thanks to Mr. Pritesh, the organiser of the event, for making this session possible and for his dedication to spreading awareness about this vital cause.
