On July 14th, 2013 an awareness programme on organ donation was organised by Mr. Jasvir Singh, President (Public Elected Leader), Mahilpur – Hoshiarpur and a group of like minded young men. The initiative was meant to reach out to the heads of the surrounding villages. 24 participants including two Police Officers from the area attended the two hour long presentation. There was active participation by all the attendants. The question and answer session was handled by Sudhir Dewan, Director, MOHAN Foundation, Chandigarh.
Manpura is 20 kms from Hosiarpur and is fast developing as an educational hub. The aim is to spread awareness among the students, especially nursing students. Apart from that they also intend to educate every member of the village on this biting issue. The group is planning its next activity in Jalandhar, Punjab.
